Who We Are?
mounts bay sailing club
Situated on the banks of the Swan River in Crawley, Mounts Bay Sailing Club boasts one of the most spectacular locations for sailing and socialising in Perth.
The Club’s Mission says it all: Bringing people together on and off the water.
Founded in 1897, the Club boasts a rich history in dinghy sailing, and is dedicated to promoting the sport to people in all walks of life. With no regard for exclusivity or exclusion, we welcome new members all year round and love to share our passion for sailing at every opportunity.
MBSC is more than just a sporting club – it’s been a cornerstone of the local community since the very beginning. Social members, families and guests are always welcome to enjoy Perth’s most spectacular river views and our award-winning hospitality.
The Member’s Bar is open every Friday from 5pm till late and Sundays from 12pm-6pm, coinciding with our biggest weekly sailing events. Enjoy a bite to eat or a cold drink, take in the views from the Club’s balcony or alfresco area and watch the sun go down and the city light up.
Sailing at MBSC
At Mounts Bay Sailing club, we’re incredibly passionate about the sport of sailing and love to get out on the water as often as we can. Some of the regular sailing events you can expect at Mounts Bay include:
Friday night Twilight sailing: Our signature sailing event hosted every Friday evening. Combining cruising with casual racing and a BBQ for members and their families, Twilight sailing is also our key weekly social event, with our waterfront Members’ Bar open from 5pm til late.
Sunday racing: Regular racing for all dinghy classes is conducted on Sundays from October through to April. To find out more about our fleets here at Mounts Bay, see our Classes page.
Junior Learning & Development: The pride and joy of MBSC is our incredible L&D program for kids interested in developing their sailing skills. Held every Sunday morning and weekday afternoons from October to April, plus school holiday ‘learn to sail’ programs for kids and teens.
Learning and Development Focus
Our qualified instructors equip young sailors with versatile life skills, practised through the timeless sport of sailing.
Participation at Any Level
We welcome social sailors of all ages, as well as competitors in club, state, national or international racing.
Fun & Exciting
Sailing is active, exhilarating and challenging. We believe there’s no experience quite like it.
Awards & Accolades
In 2020, Mounts Bay Sailing Club was awarded Australian sailing Club of the Year – WA. The Club then went on to be named as one of the three finalists nation wide.
Mounts Bay Sailing Club was also a winner in the 2018-19 Discover Sailing Centre Competition. MBSC was crowned the victor for the largest percentage growth in the country, with a 1600% increase in full course participants – all thanks to our strong community outreach efforts and school sailing programs.
Of course, if you ask any Mounts Bay member, there’s no doubt that our gem on the Swan is Australia’s best sailing club – and going from strength to strength with each passing season, we’re well on the way to proving it.
