Steak & Salad Night at the Bay

Come and help us welcome in the re-commencement of the sailing season for a pleasant night with friends and family to finish off the working week.
 

  • Food Available From: 6.00pm until 45 mins after Sailing finishes.
  • Cost: $15.00 per head (Kids Eat Free = sausage, salad & potatoes)
  • Cocktail of the Night: $10.00 each (Grumpy Old Man – Bourbon, Lime Juice, Ginger Ale)
The catering is being co-ordinated in-house on this occasion and a set number of meals will be available” To avoid disappointment you are encouraged to make a booking.

L&D resumes 13 January 2019

I hope you and your families had a relaxing Christmas break and I wish you the best for the New Year.
 
Below is important information regarding the Learning and Development Program the second half of the season at Mounts Bay Sailing Club.
 
Dates for your Diary

 Sunday 13 January: L&D recommences for those who wanted to keep up the sailing during the holidays.

 Friday 18 January: Friday training for Race Ready and Comp Squad resumes

Saturday 2 – Sunday 3 February: Junior Sailing Camp

Sunday 26 January & Sunday 3 March: No sailing due to Public Holidays

Friday 17 May: Prize Night

 
Sailing Camp
The Camp will be a great way for the kids from all the L&D Squads to mingle and have some fun from Saturday 2 February to Sunday 3 February – see advertisement in this newsletter further down. An overview and link below for further information about times, program, what to bring and to register.
Junior Sailing Camp.

Kids Learn to Sail Course
We have some spots for the Kids Learn to Sail Course from January 22-25 January and 29 January – 1 February if you know friends that would be interested. For more information and to register, see below advert.
 
Adult Learn to Sail Course
Our next course is beginning Saturday February 2nd running for 4 weeks. For more information and to register, see below advert:
 
Recreational Skippers Ticket Course
Please register your interest by reply email to me if you wish to participate in the RST Course and I will coordinate suitable dates. If you wish to volunteer by driving a rescue boat, an RST is mandatory. Cost is $210 per student, with a max class of 8 students. MBSC will gift you a $105 club voucher if you volunteer your time at 3x MBSC events on a safety or start boat role during the remainder of the 2018/19 season. The voucher will be issued on completion of the third volunteer roster.

B.U.R.G.E.R.S!

We hope that got your attention! Mounts Bay Sailing Club – Learning & Development Junior Program has been  selected to participate in Local Matters at Grill’d Claremont Quarter this January!
 
Local Matters is the Grill’d community donation program that sees each Grill’d restaurant donate $500 back into the community every month. The donation is split between 3 local community groups $300 / $100 / $100.

 Being on a jar this month will hopefully generate some extra support and increase awareness in the local community about what we do
HOW YOU CAN HELP?
We’d love your support in receiving the highest $300 donation! Simply head to Grill’d Claremont Quarter during January for a burger and pop your Local Matters token in our jar. The group with the most tokens at the end of the month receives the largest donation.
It’s a simple (and delicious) way to show your support!
You’ll find us on a jar at Grill’d Claremont Quarter, The Lane 23 St Quentin Ave.

2019 O’pen Bic Worlds Report

All is going well in New Zealand. Follow the link to see some great shots of the action.

133 boats split into 70 Under 17 and 63 Under 13’s. All of the Mounts Bay sailors are performing well and keep improving.

Junior Sailing Camp!

Volunteers Needed in the Finish Box

We are looking for volunteers to note down race times in the finish box on Sundays. This can be done on a regular basis or just the odd shift here and there. Finish Box duties should only take 30 minutes.

Anyone who volunteers will be treated to a bottle of wine or a few beers on the house.Over 18’s only though!

Sail Albany 2019 Easter Regatta


Nominations are now open for the “Walpole In The Trees” Regatta

The link can also be found at the WYC website along with the Notice of Race for details of the weekend.
This year registrations are now open on the Friday evening to allow sufficient time to affix bow numbers.                 
Last year’s numbers will need to be removed from boats (heating up with hairdryer works best!) prior to the weekend.

Information For Members

New Membership Cards
Once you have paid your membership levies, your membership cards will be available to collect from the office. These cards will have your house support pre-loaded onto them (if applicable). PLEASE NOTE: House Support can be used in the club bars, on club merchandise and now also on club event tickets! However, your house support can no longer to be used at the canteen.  and don’t forget that h

MBSC Has Gone Green
For the last few weeks the Club has been operating on solar power! A large solar panel installation has taken place on the Club roof which took approximately 1 week to install.
