Flying Ant State Championships 2022

As shown in last week’s newsletter we had Finlay and Lucas win the 2022 WA state championships for the Flying Ant class down at Geographe Bay Yacht Club.
This Sunday we had the boys present Mounts Bay Sailing Club with the trophy which will be proudly displayed in the upstairs bar area – be sure to check it out! During the presentation we had past state Flying Ant champions: Chris, Ash, Dave and Gavin pass on some sailing advise to the boys and how this sailing journey is only just begun. Congratulation boys, from all of us down at the bay!

Interclub Championships

Next month on the 8th, 9th and 10th of April, Mounts Bay Sailing Club will be hosting the Interclub Championships! If you are interested in sailing in this event as a representative of Mounts Bay Sailing Club, we would love to hear from you!! Please email Conor on coaching@mbsc.com.au for more information or to enter!

Sunday Sailing at the bay

A great day of sailing down at the bay this Sunday as the Windsurfers, Tasars, Sharpies, Moths, GP14s and Flying Ants sailed for another exciting race! Congratulations to all the winners and thank you to the volunteers who make it all happen.

Don’t forget! This Sunday is our 3 of a Kind and Cock of the Swan regatta! Have you registered your team yet?

Mounts Bay Sailing Club is named once more!

Big thankyou to Bjorn, Gabbie, John and Sam for organising and putting up Mounts Bay Sailing Cub’s lettering on the clubhouse once again! The lettering was taken off earlier in the year to allow for the installation of the new shade sail which extended our alfresco area, however has now been put back up in its new position over the Sharpie Shed and club office!

Way Back Wednesday – Celebrating 125 Years

The photo shows some of the trophies which during March of each year we see representatives of many sailing Classes contest the Cock of the Swan trophies for the fastest monohulls and Catamarans on the Swan River and also in the Three of a Kind Regatta which is a yard stick event for monohulls and catamarans. We first conducted the 3 of a Kind Regatta in 1975 for monohulls only, and it has grown into several Divisions to cater for the development of sailing craft and the popularity of the event. These two activities are conducted together to provide a great spectacle as the best the best sailors from each Class vie for the bragging rights in this one race event. In the past, these events had been separate events, but are now combined.
