October 1st saw the opening of Mounts Bay Sailing Clubs 126th season – and what a day it was! Perfect conditions and a well attended event, thank you to everyone who was able to come down on the day and enjoy the festivities. It was a wonderful opportunity for the management team to be able to celebrate a fabulous 125th season and to look forward to an even better 126th. Below are some photos from the day, and more can be found on our Facebook page (link above!).

Our Quarterdeck room: volunteer Greg Jennings has worked exceptionally hard ensuring the history of the club was on display for all visitors of the weekend to see.

Richard and Rachel Payne were acknowledged for their generous support of MBSC by securing a new start boat in the lead up to our season open, as part of the Commodore’s speech. We look forward to christening the boat at Veteran’s/Past Champions Day on Sunday 4th December.

Opening Day last Saturday saw the Mounts Bay lawn buzzing with boats and sailors eager to hit the water for the first time this summer.
The MBSC Management committee did a fantastic job in preparation for the celebration of opening our 126th year.
There was a small contingency of Juniors who participated in the opening ceremony leading the Australian Anthem and joining in afternoon sailing on the cruisers and the senior racing.
The MBSC Development Squad sessions commence this Sunday at 8.30am
This season the management committee has introduced a new initiative by nominating two Junior Captains to assist in the operations of Junior Sailing at MBSC.

Wilson Senders – Junior Captain of the Development Squad and
Lucas Cunningham – Junior Captain of Racing will work together with myself and the Management team to further enhance your experiences at Mounts Bay Sailing Club.

MBSC would like to congratulate our very own Larry Smith for receiving the award for Official of the Year – WA from Australian Sailing during the awards night we hosted last Thursday. Larry was our Principal Racing Officer for 14 regatta’s last season in addition to his role as Vice Commodore – whilst also holding the sailing portfolio. Larry your efforts are sincerely appreciated by all of the members here at MBSC and we wish you the best of luck in your nomination for the national title, announced in November this year.

A big congratulations to Skallagrigg crew for taking out 2nd on handicap and first over the line representing MBSC at the South of Perth Yacht Club Opening Day on Sunday 2nd October.

Commodore Fiona Davidson accepting Skallagrigg pennants on behalf of Sean Wallis and crew at the South of Perth Yacht Club Opening Day. It was only fitting for her to ring the bell on their behalf.
