Flashback  Friday – Celebrating 125 Years

Not many members will remember that this photo is of the first MBSC members to win an Australian Championship, which Ted Tomlinson and his crew did in 1907 sailing on an 18 footer named Aeolus.  Do members know who was the most recent MBSC sailing team to win an Australian Championship, and how many times that skipper been the Australian Champion in that Class?  Hint, it was in 2020.  Also, who is the Australian Champion sailor who is currently coaching our Flying Ant sailors, and what type of boat did he sail?  Which current active sailors won Australian Championships during the 1980’s?  You can find the answers and much more, on Sunday at our Veterans Day display of memorabilia and history items in the Quarterdeck.  Included in the display is what Classes were those that we have hosted in 6 World Championships and over 50 Australian Championships at MBSC, and also see which of our sailors were those that have won a total of at least 67 Australian and World Championships.  Come see some of our rich history of success in competitive sailing, and also how we enjoy life at MBSC.

Don’t forget to reach out to the Club if you want to get involved in this years
