CLUB NOTICES

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL PEN & MOORING HOLDERS & ALL MEMBERS

Do not access or moor your vessel on the “T” section
at the end of the pen jetty.

IT IS IN IMMINENT DANGER OF COLLAPSING

Recent pen inspections have uncovered further evidence of deterioration of the steel head stocks supporting this jetty section. It is now at a stage of becoming extremely dangerous to use this jetty.
Negotiations and quotes to repair/replace the section have been sought over the last two years, however, the Club should have an acceptable quote by the end of March with work commencing soon after. The Pen committee will also attempt some remedial work to stabilise the problem.

Meanwhile, we ask all Club members and Pen Holders to respect our request to not enter the area shown on the plan below as you will enter at your own risk.

Warning signs and safety tape will be placed around the area in the next few days.

 Sailing Sunday

We have a mild breeze forecast for Sunday.

Last week the onshore breeze provided some comedic activity from the shore.

Aiden & Liam prevailed and took the kids out of the bay and provided some one on one Opti sailing deep in Matilda Bay.

Riley did a great job with the new kids on the block keeping them on the beach enabling them to have a go for the first time with “a rope on a boat”

We had Dave Mann driving our more experienced group in the BICS, conditions proving difficult. His expertise was greatly appreciated and he roved that he a 50+ year old can still squeeze into the perhaps oversized junior skiff.

This week the kids will be working on the fundamentals ensuring correct tacking technique – facing the front of the boat at all times, holding the tiller at all times, keeping the rudder centered and in control unless turning through the wind.
